El Tacon Madre: Authentic Tacos & Delicious Treats in Del Rio, TX

While traveling to Del Rio with friends, I was told about Tacón Madre and decided to stop along the way. As a traveler who loves uncovering local treasures, I’m so glad we did. We ordered the tacos tapatíos, and they were a joyful, refreshing burst of flavor—like a true homage to homemade food. Each bite was bold and authentic, and the homemade salsa was a standout—vibrant, with just the right kick. The tostadas were equally remarkable—crisp, fresh, and full of that comforting homemade charm. And the tacos… u lala—absolutely delicious. The service from Grace was efficient and fast, which added to the seamless experience. And the environment—ah, it was something special. It gave off this remarkable vibe of Mexican and West culture blending—with handcrafted wooden tables and ambient lights that gave it a rich, impressionistic feel of cultural art. I’d give Tacón Madre 4.5 a refreshing, flavorful stop with a unique atmosphere that leaves a lasting impression. Prices also very welcomed!!

This place was amazing and very accommodating. I am often a very cold person. They turned off the fan and turned up the AC so it could be warmer. that to begin with is outstanding the food was delicious. The Chile Riano were amazing. The tacos were great.. The tortillas are so yummy. Laura assisted us and was above and beyond helpful. I am returning for sure!

Before I get into the finer details - the food was great. Plus, i liked the setup of this restauarant - Mexican themed and spacious. Nice people employed here. First time eating here. The service was slow at first, but the head honcho came out and acknowledged. The waitresses picked up the pace. A really nice young lady took over service and offered to give us road drinks (Jamaica). The manager, or owner, is a personable gentleman. The environment is chill and quiet. The servings are big. If you order an appetizer and meal, you'll be bringing food home. Unless you're big backed - then you'll have enough and clean your plate. Parking lot is across the street from the restaurant. I saw drive up service if you're in the move. Great place. Check it out. The food gave me the energy to move into a new residence. I came back to my new place and unloaded my u haul. Thank you!

The lunch buffet is superb! I am in town from San Antonio and this place has been on my radar since the last time I was here for work, so I was told I'd be back, I knew I had to give it a whirl! Food was hot and fresh, staff friendly and attentive!!! Highly recommend

Food was very good I had the enchiladas I had to ask for queso fresco and their salsa molcajete! Food over all was great and reasonable prices!

I've heard great things about this restaurant, and the rumors were true! Absolutely delicious food and amazing service to top it off. The Tacon Madre sampler was the best! Also, the tacos tapatios were probably some of the best I've ever had. We were seated quick and served our food quickly, too. Such a great place; definitely check it out!
